Dear Wendy; Your Mother sounds like one of the most interesting, adventurous and generous women ever! So moving to get a glimpse of her amazing life story, so beautifully captured in the well written tribute. I believe she would approve! My condolences to you and your family.

Susan & Wendy:
We knew your family our entire lives. The original "Fish & Game" crew were like family. Your folks were the most down home environmentally ethical role models for a kid to look up to; before environmentalism was in vogue.
One time my brother & I chopped down a Christmas tree & talked to your Dad as we were dragging it past your house. I was proud of the nice tree we´d found. He said, "Why did you do that?" This is a question I pondered the rest of my life. There is no doubt that your family & my Dad influenced my career to restore disturbed landscapes (I.e. leave the world a better place than when you found it).
I regret that I never birded with your Dad (a passion of mine now), although his bird whistles inspired me to do the same.
We frequently stopped by to see George & Virginia in their shop- mostly just to visit! Although their unique birdhouses were a favorite of ours to give as a gift. They were always so warm and welcoming.
We will miss them both. So sorry to learn of your recent loss of your Mom.

Great memories of chatting with your Mother in the gift shop when in Helena visiting family. My sons loved to drop in and look around. Wendy and Susan, may you find peace in her passing that she will be with your father.
