Kimberly Champagne Obituary

Kimberly Kay Champagne passed away on June 29, 2023 alongside her beloved husband Michael H. Champagne.

Kim was born on September 11, 1958, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Bill and Doris Creech. She grew up in Henryetta and spent her childhood playing tennis, softball and baton twirling. She enjoyed fishing and spending quality time on her family's farm and was a member of the band and Girl Scouts. She graduated from Henryetta High School with the honor of Salutatorian.

Kim graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Anyone who knew her, knew her love for Sooner football. From an early age, Kim loved spending time with children and continued her family's legacy of teaching. Over her 10 year teaching career, she taught at both Putnam City West High School and Jenks High School.

Kim met the love of her life, Michael Champagne, while playing tennis. They married on July 22, 1989 in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1996, the couple started Champagne Metals together out of their living room and the company recently celebrated its 27th anniversary. Kim's loyalty, intelligence and charisma were vital to the company's success and growth.

The joy of Kim's life was her family, including her two children and four grandchildren. Best known as Kay Kay, she devoted the last several years pouring love into her grandchildren. Kim was also an outstanding tennis player and golfer. She enjoyed traveling, scuba diving and fishing. Kim was passionate about community service, she dedicated her time to the Glenpool Public Schools, AutismUp and especially children in need during the holiday season.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Brandon Champagne and wife Ashley, Brooke de Cárdenas and husband Christian; four grandchildren, Carter Champagne, Michael de Cárdenas, Owen de Cárdenas and Charlotte Champagne; one brother, Bill Creech, Jr.; one sister, Cara Creech; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at Asbury Church, 6767 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK at 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023. Light reception to follow at the church.

I just learned of this tragic loss and my heart and prayers go out to the family. Kim and I shared the same birthday and I always have a kind thoughtful moment where I think of her on that day and it makes me think of all of the life's of the people she touched how she effected them and the world around her. It warms my heart and puts a smile on my face. I say happy birthday to us and I continue on with my day trying to do my best and hoping to make a difference like her. I'll continue to do that still and have remembrance of her until I see her again. God bless and with sincerity, love, and respect peace be with you from the Madrid family - Megan R Radke Madrid

It broke my heart to hear about your parents. I knew of them through my brother Michael Hathaway and met your mom once when my brother and I ran into her at Charleston´s. I also saw them both at my brother´s funeral. I know that they were very generous people and that my brother thought a lot of them. I recall how they would send him gift cards to have meals from fancy restaurants delivered to him when he was on sick leave following hospital operations. I also remember when your parents had food catered to feed our entire family following the death of our mother. I could go on about the nice things my brother had to say about them. Please know that I have been praying for your family.
