Rodney Ayers Obituary

Rodney Lester Ayers, age 85, of McDonough, GA, passed away on July 27, 2023. He was born in Atlanta, GA Nov. 13, 1937, to the late James Lester Ayers and Laura Ailene Darnell Ayers.

Rod was preceded in death by his brother Edward "Dan" Ayers. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Steele Ayers, daughters Cynthia A. Flannery (David), Amanda D. Walker, grandson Austin Walker and his father George Walker, brother Sidney Ayers (Pam), sister-in-law Jan Ayers, and several nieces and Nephews.

Rod was a skilled manufacturing and tooling engineer that began his career at Warren Company before retiring from Snapper after an impressive 28 years of service. Rod was truly an outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, archery, camping, and spending time at the "bow land" and "farm" hunting with his wife, Peggy. Rod cherished those moments, not only for himself, but also as opportunities to pass down shared traditions to his beloved family.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, 770-914-1414.

Sidney, I am sure you remember our family. I am Lamar Wakefield, Richard and Lena´s son. We spent a lot of time with your mom and dad and I remember you playing football at Murphy High School. My parents have passed but I did some work for Rodney when he was at Snapper. I remember him having his bow practice area at his home next to your parents. I trust you are well.
