One of the most interesting and thoughtful people I have known; he was my mentor in medical school and led me to choose what I do now for a career. I will never forget the lines of physicians in the hallway with jackets of films to go over with Dr. McKown when I worked with him in medical school. He greeted everyone, knew them all well, worked through their patient's issues and pretty much always seemed to be right. Larger than life. I will miss him greatly.

I was an School of Radiologic Technologist student at CHH when Dr. McKown came to Huntington to work w/Dr. McKay. He was quite the opposite type of teacher of Dr.McKay, but we learned much from him also. Over the years after graduation, when I returned to the Tri-State for visits, it was always good to see him and talk about our days w/Dr. Tolley, Dr. Maia, and Dr. Anton. His influence on the medical community and the MU School of Medicine was immeasurable. I had not seen him for several years, but always will remember him w/fondness. Condolences to his family and friends.

Dr. McKown was such a generous individual, I did my undergraduate degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC where he did his Radiology Residency. He used to come up all the time and we would go do different things. When I started my Mobile Diagnostics company in West Virginia between Dr. McKown and Dr. Dransfeld, they both were so supportive of my company and assisted whenever I hit a speed bump. Dr. McKown was a total class act and I will miss him immensely.

I knew Charlie for almost fifty years. He and Dr Maia took me and my wife to our Radiology, Inc recruitment dinner at the Club Pompeii. Over the years I observed his humor, generosity and loyalty. A good man. Sorry for your passing and may you rest in peace.
