Darrell Walden Obituary
DARRELL F. WALDEN went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2025, at the age of 75. Darrell was the son of Denver F. Walden and Beulah Sims Walden.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Sharen (Sherry) A. Walden, and their three children, David (Jessica) Walden of Ona, WV, Angela (Steve) Ball of Fincastle, VA, and Allison (Kyle) Swingle of Maize, KS. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Hayden and Adelyn Walden, Olivia and Amelia Ball, and a sister, Donna J. Best.
Darrell was born on February 18, 1950, and spent his entire life in the Huntington area. He graduated from Huntington East High School in 1968 and from Marshall University in 1972 with a B.B.A. degree in accounting. Darrell was a Certified Public Accountant and a former member of the AICPA. Prior to his retirement, he worked his entire professional career for the Internal Revenue Service as a field agent and as an appeals officer.
Darrell was kind, caring, and a man of integrity. He loved family gatherings, traveling, and his favorite pastime was golf. Most of all, he loved God and served Him, loved his wife and children, provided for them, and loved his family. He was a man of faith with God and served his community.
Darrell accepted Jesus into his heart when he was nine years old. He was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church of Huntington, where he served in various capacities, including treasurer, deacon, and trustee.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at New Baptist Church in Huntington, WV, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at New Baptist Church at Noon, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations can be made to New Baptist Church in memory of Darrell.
