Elizabeth Jarrell Obituary

ELIZABETH "BETTY" JARRELL, 86, of Milton, W.Va., Sheffield Lake and Columbus, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, after an extended illness. Betty was born September 23, 1937, known to her grandkids as Grammie, was a proud graduate of Scott High School and Marshall University, where she obtained her BA Degree in Elementary Education. Betty started her teaching career in Huntington, W.Va. Upon moving to Ohio, she spent over 20 years in the Sheffield - Sheffield Lake School system where she taught Elementary Education. Betty loved teaching and was progressive with finding ways to keep her students engaged. She was the Queen of Thanksgiving programs and the scariest witch on Halloween. Betty and Willard married in 1965. After attending her first Browns game in 1964 with Willard; which happened to be the NFL Championship, she became a lifelong Browns fan. She rooted for the Browns, Indians (Guardians), Cavs, Buckeyes, and The Herd. She enjoyed traveling to Milton, Chicago and South Carolina to visit her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her brother J.R. Rogers, (Belinda) of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; her son, Steve Jarrell (Kelli) of Grove City, Ohio; daughter Stephanie De Chant (Steve) of Gilberts, Illinois; and son David Jarrell (Mallory) of Milton W.Va. Grammie leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ryan and Austin De Chant of Charleston, S.C., Peyton De Chant of Gilberts, Ill., Grayson and Graham Jarrell of Grove City, Ohio and Jackson and Madison Jarrell of Milton, W.Va. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Goldie Rogers and her loving husband Willard Jarrell. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Forest Memorial Park, Milton, W.Va. Committal and burial will follow. Viewing will take place from 11a.m. until noon at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va. A procession will leave for the cemetery at 12 p.m. There will be a luncheon held after services at Milton Baptist Church. Betty loved flowers, but if you wanted to do something different, donations can be made in Betty's name to Marshall Big Green, or the Brookside High School Boosters Club.
