GEORGE AUGUST STURGEON

GEORGE AUGUST STURGEON, 81, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Woodlands Healthcare. He was a District Manager for Browning Manufacturing. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Peter Reetz officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born April 10, 1935, in Louisville, Ky., a son of the late Charles J. and Helen Fuller Sturgeon. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy D. Sturgeon; one daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Drew Filchak of Lexington, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Sturgeon of Barboursville; four grandchildren, Ryan Filchak and Katherine Filchak, both of Chicago, Ill.; Lauren and Fred Francis and Jennifer Sturgeon, all of Barboursville; one great-grandson, Gunnar Francis, and great-grandson Lawson Francis due in October; one sister, Frances Mitchell of Indianapolis, Ind. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in George's memory.
