Irene Artrip Obituary
IRENE (BLANKENSHIP) ARTRIP, 85, of Huntington, WV, passed away November 1, 2025. Irene was born July 20, 1940, in Wayne, the daughter of the late Thelma Lockhart Blankenship and Hiram Blankenship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Paul Artrip; sisters, Fredis Blankenship, Leota Adkins, Lillian Lowe, and Sylvia Luther; brothers, James, Sidney, Cay Franklin, Willis, and Hiram Blankenship Jr.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Anne and Bruce Alderton and Rebecca Taylor and Andy Herring; sister, Sue Dierdorff; brother, Ellis Blankenship; grandchildren, Brandon and Julie Alderton, Rachel Alderton, Amy and Quinn Barnes, Nathaniel and Blake Taylor, and Preston Herring; and great-grandsons Aiden and Daniel Alderton. Irene loved her family, her dog Oreo, and was always a supporter of mission work around the world.
Visitation will be Friday, November 7, at 10 a.m., and a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Burial will be in Spring Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the Holding Hands for Haley Foundation, www.holdinghandsforhaleyfoundation.org.
