JAMES RUNYON Obituary
JAMES C. RUNYON, 67, lovingly known as Corkey, went to his Heavenly home on October 30, 2017. His wife, Deborah Runyon, and son, Jamie Runyon, were by his side. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Runyon Sr., and brother, Charles F. Runyon Jr. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte June Runyon, and sisters, Judith Smith, Cheryl Ronald (Andy), Karen Runyon and Sallye Jo (Phil) Emmons. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law and their families, Sydnee Runyon, Evelyn Romine and Paula Presley. Corkey is survived by one granddaughter, Jaylen Wright, many nieces and nephews and two pet "grandchildren," Max and Benjamin. He was a proud US Army veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with "V" device for heroism. Corkey was raised in Huntington, W.Va., and spent many years in automobile sales before retiring to Sarasota, Fla. Burial will be in the Sarasota National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pancreatic Cancer Research, Wounded Warriors or a charity of your choice. Corkey never met a stranger and was loved by many. He will be missed but will live on in our hearts forever.

If you knew Corkey you never paid for your first beer. If one thing comes to mind is he had a huge heart, he will be missed.

Debbie and Jamie, I'm so very sorry we lost Corkey. Corkey was a wonderful co-worker and friend. He taught me very much about the car business and helped train me when I had no idea how to deal with people or how to sell vehicles. Amanda and I very much enjoyed our time with you guys last year in Sarasota. I'm glad we were able to do so. It was an honor and privilege to be able to call Corkey my friend. We will miss him so very much. I pray for peace and comfort for you and the whole family.

So very sorry for your loss. I was acquainted with Corkey through my son, Matt who was his friend and coworker, and knew him to be a fine fella. He always had a kind word and a smile. He will be missed.
