John Steen Obituary

JOHN WILLIAM STEEN, 76, of Ashland, KY passed away at Kings Daughters Medical Center on December 25, 2023. He was born on July 10, 1947 in Ashland to the late William M. and Jo Frances Rayburn Steen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Billie Jean Snell Steen and his brother Marshall Lane Steen.
He was retired from Kentucky Power Company and was a member of Second Freewill Baptist Church. He also was a KDMC Volunteer for many years and after retirement he worked for Gallaher Printing, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. John was an avid golfer and loved to play Bridge, read and quilt. He loved to travel with his wife Jean and together they explored the United States, Canada and South America.
He is survived by his daughters Amy Twinam and son-in-law Earl of Flatwoods, KY, Sallie Cole and daughter-in-law Teresa of Lexington, KY, a granddaughter Maddie Boyd and Fiance' Cameron Rodgers of La Grange, KY, great grandson Quest, great granddaughter Atlas, sister-in law, Pat Steen Graham and husband Steve and nephews William Steen, Zachary Steen and Jason Gullett.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12:30 p.m., at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum and will be officiated by Bill Evans. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 12 Noon at STEEN FUNERAL HOME-CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL.
Contributions may be made in his memory to Ashland Animal Rescue Fund, P. O. Box 2061, Ashland, KY, 41105-2061.
