Karen Gertrude Ramey

KAREN GERTRUDE RAMEY, 85, of Huntington, WV passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
She was born January 20, 1940, in Kenton, Ohio to Clifton Smith Mitchell and Minnie Cecilia (Jones) Mitchell. A 1958 valedictorian graduate of Mt. Victory High School, Karen furthered her education and graduated in 1962 as a registered nurse from Riverside White Cross School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio.
Upon her marriage to Richard Talmadge Ramey on June 7, 1964, she moved to Huntington where she began working at Cabell Huntington Hospital. In 1971, she started what would become a 47-year career with Scott Orthopedic. Upon retirement in 2018, Karen continued to assist patients by volunteering at HIMG as a front desk greeter.
She was an involved member of Southside United Methodist Church (consolidated into Community of Grace United Methodist Church) and the Guyandotte chapter of the Order of the Easter Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include a son, Brian (Lynn) Ramey of Greencastle, IN; a daughter Lori (Broderick) Crawford of Huntington, WV; and her grandchildren Kelsey (Zachary) McColgan, Kayla Crawford, Sean Ramey, and Molly Ramey.
Visitation for Karen will be on Monday, September 15 from Noon-2 p.m. at Chapman's Mortuary. Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Chapman officiating. Burial will take place in Spring Hill Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her honor to the Community of Grace United Methodist Church (225 28th St, Huntington, WV 25702) or to the American Cancer Society.
