MORRIS RAY NELSON, 81, of Huntington, went to his heavenly home on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elders Roger Maynard and Tommy Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. He was born July 20, 1936, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Millard Nelson and Milda Maynard Nelson. He was a retired mechanic for Heiners Bakery and a former mechanic for Galigher and Hayden Ford. He was also a member of Echo United Baptist Church. He greatly enjoyed visiting other churches. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Randy Nelson; brother, Aubra Nelson; sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Jay Napier; two nephews, Kevin Nelson and Michael Napier. Survivors include his beloved wife of 17 years, Bonnie Kay Patterson Nelson; one daughter, Lisa Nelson of Huntington; one brother, Roger Nelson (Belinda) of Huntington; one sister, Barbara Perry (Don) of Huntington; granddaughter, Shayla Lucas; great-grandson, Darius Lucas; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Nelson and Roberta Patterson; special neighbors, Leo and Mary Bowen; favorite fishing buddies, Willard and Teresa Horn; two special friends, Amos Maynard and Noah Queen. He is also survived by a host of friends from Echo Church and Heiner's and lots of brothers and sisters in Christ. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
