RUTH HELEN EAVES

1947 - 2015

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." RUTH HELEN STEWART EAVES, 68 of Kenova, in the eyes of her husband Dennis and children Sean Smith, Danny Smith, Sara Newman, Larry (Laura) Smith and Chris (Erica) Eaves as well as her sisters Dottie Hatten, Nancy (Ronnie) Fannin and Beatrice "Cookie" (Jack) Stevens and brother Earnest "Butch" Stewart was just that. Ruth was born March 9, 1947, and crossed her finish line Wednesday November 4, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Stewart and Edna Newman Duncan, also preceding her in death were a brother Fred Stewart and a son William "Billy Joe" Smith. She labored at Corbin Ltd., and following her mother's death she and her twin sister Nancy assumed ownership of Edna's Custom's Drapes, having hung drapes in homes and businesses throughout the Tri-State, but that work does not describe who Ruth was and is to her family. Ruth cherished her family especially her grandchildren Sara, Sean, James, Wyatt, Summer, Seth, Evan, Sarah, Abby, Ethan and her great-granddaughter McKinnley, and each of her favorite nieces and nephews whom loved her dearly. She made the best of every opportunity trying to instill in all of her family the need to "keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life." (Jude 21, ESV) Cancer may have destroyed her earthly body, but nothing caused her spirit to waiver in trusting in the "great physician." She was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life, by her request, at a graveside service on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11a.m. at Crescent Hill Cemetery conducted by Ministers Amos Prince and Chris Stevens, her nephew. Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, is assisting the family.
