Mark Eaves Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hanner Funeral Service on Jan. 17, 2026.
"Papa" Mark Eaves, age 66, passed away from this life on January 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Mark was born to George "Pete" and Shirley Reece Eaves of Linden, Texas on December 2, 1959.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Eaves Jr., his parents, George "Pete" and Shirley Eaves, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, and close friends.
He is survived by the love of his life of 41 years, Nancy Sapaugh Eaves, son, and "Daughter in Love" Seth and Jamie Eaves of Longview, Texas. The apple of his eye, granddaughter, Katelyn Carrell and husband Taylor Carrell of Bloomburg, Texas, his grandson, "little jerk" Charlie Dillard Jr., of Longview, Texas, two great grandchildren, "princess peanut" Olivia Kate Carrell, and "Princess Jellybean" Allie Ruth Carrell. He is also survived by his beloved grand dog, Leeloo "Big Bird" Eaves, and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mark Eaves was the kind of man who could offend you and defend you in the same breath. He told jokes that made some people laugh, some people gasp, and others ask, "Did he really just say that?" (Yes, he sure did). Yet, he loved fiercely, laughed loudly, and lived unapologetically. Above all else, he loved his wife with everything he had. She was his person, his anchor, his greatest pride, and the one who truly knew him. Their love was real, imperfect, loud, and loyal. He wasn't easy. He wasn't quiet. He wasn't subtle but he had a heart bigger than Texas. The world feels a little duller without his commentary, and a little less honest without his presence. He leaves behind stories that will be retold, jokes that will still make us laugh (and shake our heads), and a love that will never be forgotten.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Janice McGowan and Seth Eaves officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a time of visitation.
