VIRGINIA OGLE RIPPER

1925 - 2014

VIRGINIA OGLE RIPPER, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014 in Huntington. She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Ripper; two daughters, Elisabeth Kelly (Mike) of Paducah, Ky., Janet Chambers (Doug) of Winfield, W.Va., and three grandchildren, Joe Kelly, Anna and Charles Chambers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephriam Sylvester and Lula Virginia Wade Ogle and a daughter Joy Lee Ripper. Virginia was born December 22, 1925 in Waynesville, Missouri, educated in the public schools. She worked as a secretary for the Pulaski County Welfare Office and the Lt. Governor of Missouri in Jefferson City. She also worked for the State Geologist and the Fifth Army G-1 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., until June 1953. Mrs. Ripper moved to Huntington in 1953 to join her husband where she worked for the YMCA and the Standard Ultramarine Company. Virginia was an active artist for many years joining her husband in many art shows in West Virginia and Kentucky. She was a past member of the Beverly Hills Garden Club, a member of the Woman's Club of Huntington and the First Presbyterian Church. Services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by The Rev. Skip Seibel. Private interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hospice of Huntington in place of flowers.
