WILMA HALL Obituary

WILMA HOUCHINS HALL, of St. Albans, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 25, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on Christmas Eve, 1925, in Lookout, W.Va., Fayette County, the oldest child of William Charles "Bill" and Jessie Virginia Bostic Houchins. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a wonderful mother and role model who was the heart of our family, and was always the anchor and the wind beneath our wings. She made the Hall home a loving place. She also worked in the family business of Hall and Hall CPAs for many years and was loved by all of their clients. She was a Cub Scout leader for many years with Pack 146 at St. Andrew, and also was a lifetime member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and St. Albans Woman's Club. She was an original member of the current St. Andrew United Methodist Church in St. Albans for over 61 years, where she taught two- and three-year-olds in Sunday school for many years and also held other positions in the church and the United Methodist Women. She loved her church family as her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she called the love of her life for 61 years, Calvin N. Hall Jr.; her children, Emily Hope Hall and Mark Stephen Hall; and her grandchildren, Parker Evan VanTassel and Benjamin Seton Hall. She is survived by her brother and sister, Stephen B. Houchins and Billie Jo Krawsczyn; her daughters, Abigail Faith VanTassel and Jane Andrea Foster; sons, Calvin N. Hall III (Rhodanna) and John Andrew Hall; grandchildren, Calvin N. Hall IV, Jared N. Hall, Megan F. Clarkson (Joe), Andrew D. VanTassel (Christina) and Elizabeth J. Foster; great-grandchildren, Titan Evan and Bella Faith Clarkson, and Annaka McCune. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Grant, Rev. Krysta Rexrode Wolfe and Rev. Ross Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church maintenance fund, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV 25177, or to Kanawha Hospice Care of WV Inc., 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston, WV 25387. Proverbs 31:10-31 King James Version Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Beloved Aunt - she gave and received so much love - what a life well lived! I was blessed to spend time with her in recent years and I am ever so grateful to my cousins who took the time to bring her to see us often - even though it became difficult for her to travel , she knew what was important in life and made sure she spent time with her family. Her beautiful spirit shined through - even in the most difficult of times in her life, she bore it with such courage and grace. It was her habit to say when she left us "This has been a good day!" I am praying for the faith to follow her example now -our hearts are so heavy with our loss but I am remembering that it is a "good day" Aunt Wilma is rejoicing with her Lord and her loved ones that went on before her . My love and prayers are with you all
