Alan Hoffman Obituary

VANDALIA -- Alan D. Hoffman, 53, of Vandalia died 5:45 a.m. Monday (Feb. 9, 2004) in his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with the Rev. Glenn Baker officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery. Memorials: American Red Cross or Fayette County Boy Scouts.

Mr. Hoffman was born March 6, 1950, in Ramsey, the son of Lawrence S. and Evalyn L. Sanders Hoffman. Dr. Hoffman was a board certified OB gynecologist, having practiced in Vandalia, Logan Correctional Center and Effingham. He was a medical consultant for the state of Illinois. He was a member of AMA, FACOG and was a past Eagle Scout. He married Bonita I. Davis on Aug. 21, 1976.

Surviving are his wife; sisters, Janet Friesner and husband William of Vandalia; Carolyn McLaughlin of Springfield; Judy Hunt and husband Fred of Billings, Mont.; sister, Denise Dexheimer and husband Lee of Taylorville; mother-in-law, Lorna L. Davis of Tower Hill; several nephews and nieces; many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As a patient, I am very sad to loose a such a caring, compassionate physician. He made me feel that he truly cared about quality healthcare, not quanity of patients. His sense of humor helped me through some tough times.
