Alonzo Stephens Obituary

MACON - Alonzo Stephens, 55, of Macon, passed away at 6:35 am Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in his residence with his family by his side. Graveside services to celebrate Alonzo's life will be held at 10 am Friday, December 26, 2008 at Graceland Cemetery, conducted by Father Jeff Grant. There will be no visitation. Military Honors by the Macon County Honor and "Flight Home" Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com. Alonzo was born October 26, 1953 in Spokane, WA., a son of Oliver Eugene and Jane Ellen (Willoughby) Stephens. Alonzo was a devoted Catholic and member of the Parrish of Sts. James and Patrick. He served his country in the Army from 1970 to 1980 where he was involved in Special Forces Intelligence and he was a green beret. Alonzo loved to go fishing and to travel. He leaves behind his sister: Cynthia Taylor (Tim) of Decatur, brother: David A. Stephens (Jennifer) of Macon, sister: Paula Fisher/Ladue of Alabama, brother: Kevin Stephens (Lori) of Macon; aunt, Mary Willoughby of Decatur; nieces and nephews: Christina M. Chaney, Devin Stephens, James Stephens, Justin Stephens, Briana Stephens, Zachary Fisher-Ladue, Cecelia Fisher-Ladue, Shannon Neighbur, Weston Stephens, Atlen C. Stephens, Gavin W. Stephens, Jaidyn Ellen Delilah Stephens, and one great niece: Ella Mae Neighbur. He was reunited in heaven with his parents, grandparents, sister: Veronica Denise Stephens and one niece: Rebecca Fisher-Ladue. Obituary written by family members.
