Betty Brookman Obituary

DECATUR - Betty L. Brookman, 60 of Decatur, passed away at 3:20 am Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. Betty was born October 31, 1950 in Decatur the daughter of Robert and Betty L. (Mariner) Hunter. She worked for several years as a secretary for Bachrach's. One of her greatest achievements came recently when she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Richland Community College with a degree in accounting. Betty married David L. Brookman April 8, 1978 in Decatur. Betty is survived by her husband, David L. Brookman of Decatur; daughters: Kimberly (Michael) Wright of Mt. Zion, Stephanie Brookman of Kansas City, MO, and Patty (fiancé, Randy Witt) Brookman of Oconee; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; siblings: Robert (Robin) Hunter of Decatur, Edward (Pat) Hunter of Moweaqua, Linda Bradshaw of Decatur, Chester Hunter of Branson, MO, Karen (Steve) Banks of Blue Mound and Mark (Barbie) Hunter of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was reunited in Heaven with her parents. Services to celebrate Betty's life will be 10 am Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 5 to 8 pm in the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. Committal services concluding with the "Flight Home" ceremony will be at the Pieta Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen For The Cure. The family of Betty L. Brookman is being served by the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL.
