Carl Callison Obituary

FARMER CITY - Carl "C.D." Callison Sr., 84, of Farmer City died 1:03 p.m. Thursday (May 6, 2004) in Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Rick Bell officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Dewitt Cemetery. Memorials: DeWitt Fair Association. Carl was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Dewitt, the son of Ab Callison and Minta Turnipseed. He was a retired farmer. He served in the Civil Defense Patrol in the 1960s. He served as a deputy with the DeWitt County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the DeWitt Township Board and was on the First Merit Review Board for the Sheriff's department. He enjoyed camping and fishing after retirement. He was a member of DeWitt Community Fair for more than 35 years. He married Margaret Chrisman on July 22, 1944, in DeLand. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Marie (Ray) Carlson of Cloquet, Minn.; sons, Carl Callison Jr. of Salisbury, Md.; Randy (Jessie Junker) Callison of Wilmington, N.C.; grandchildren, Christy Witcher; Kaci Callison; David Carlson; Paul Carlson; Pam Thompson; Denise Follett; Rochelle Landsverk; 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay; one great-grandchild; and brother, Howard Callison.
