Charles E. Askins, 89, of Decatur, joined his late wife Nancy to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 5:50 pm in Fair Havens Senior Living.
Chuck was born March 15, 1936, in Lakewood, Illinois, son of Lenore Askins Schlosser and William Schlosser. He attended Decatur High School. Chuck married Nancy Burrus September 21, 1956. He worked as a Delivery driver for Heinkels, Earmac Meats, and retired from Aramark Uniforms. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Prairelanders Camping Club. He enjoyed Illini sports, camping, hunting, bowling, golf, and auto racing. He also enjoyed coaching baseball at Sinawik Park, travelling, taking his family on yearly trips across the country and later taking trips with Nancy.
Funeral service to celebrate Chucks' life will be held at 1 pm Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are his sons, Bruce (Debbie), Tim, Larry (Robin), Matt; daughter, Cindy (Dave O'Brien); granddaughters, Amie (Tony), Melanie (Eric), Sara (Jason), and Kelly; grandsons, Jamie (Tina), Bill (Cara), Bryan (Michelle), and Keith; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; his parents; and one great-grandson.

Can´t remember the year. Benny and I went on a trip across Michigan with Nancy and Chuck. We both had campers. The best times were setting around the campfire at night. Sorry for your loss but they are back together in heaven.
