Daniel Ray Knutt

1946 - 2024

Daniel Ray Knutt, born February 19,1946, passed away on July 18, 2024 surrounded by his family and wife, Loma, by his side. Danny was born and raised in Decatur, IL. He was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet. He worked for A.E. Staleys for 28 years, and was a member of the Laborers' Local 159, having received his membership card at the age of 18 years old. He also spent a number of years working with Dunn Construction.

Daniel, also known as Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Danny and Butch by many, was the Chicago Bears biggest fan. His man-cave, cabin next to his house, was adorned with Chicago Bears memorabilia, and of course pictures of his grandbabies. Anyone driving down MLK Jr. past the tracks would be greeted with a wave and smile. Even the nurses knew Dad from passing by his man-cave.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Loma, his twin sister, Diana Klaus, his daughters, Kim and Donna Knutt, Lori (Ryan) Coven, and Son, Michael Knutt, Step-son, Dale (Pam) Harper, and Step-daughter, Loma Jean (Shawn) Fluno and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces that loved him dearly. A special thanks to his neighbors, Jim, Bob and Sandy, who were always there to lend a hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Lucille Knutt, his grandson, Travis D. Carothers, his brother-in-law, Larry Klaus, his nephew, Larry Klaus Jr., and step-daughter, Judy Harper.

The Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at Scovill Gardens from 4-6 PM. 71 S. Country Club Rd. Decatur, IL 62521.

In lieu of flowers, Danny would have wanted everyone to pray for the Chicago Bears, originally The Decatur Staleys . Go Bears!
