DECATUR - Gerald L. "Jerry" Stephens, 68, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2025.
Celebration of life will be held at West Decatur Church of God in Harristown on Saturday, March 1 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Jerry was born on January 29, 1957, in Decatur, IL. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1975. Jerry was married to Jody Logue on June 13, 1985, they were married nearly 40 years.
He was a machinist in the Navy. Jerry went on to work at Firestone, Zexel then Acorn until its closing. He loved his job and treated his coworkers like family. Jerry never met a stranger and never forgot a birthday or holiday. Playing Santa and restoring his 1969 El Camino were his greatest passions.
Jerry is survived by his wife Jody and his three children: Kristi (Jason), Kel (Darcy) and Karry. Jerry had 7 grandchildren: Sydney, Jesse (1 great-grandchild), Aaron (3 great-grandchildren), Izsak, Zayden, Morgan and Colby. He has three sisters: Shirley, Mary Lou, and Kay; 1 brother Joe; and 1 special sister Karen Sue Ragle. He also has many nieces, nephews and friends he enjoyed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jerry's nephew Mikey whose kindness and consideration was invaluable to us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and cherished aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Decatur Church of God.

I was shocked to see the passing of Jerry. I worked with him at Zexel, went to school at Lakeview, and his family lived in the neighborhood. I also remembered him playing Santa. Prayers for comfort to the family. RIP
