Herald Swarts Obituary

CISCO - Herald E. Swarts, 81, lifelong resident of Cisco died 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 14, 2004) in his home after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Trigg & Calvert Chapel, Weldon, with the Rev. Dennis Beedy officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco, with military rites. Memorials: Craig Reed Legion Post 1181, Cisco; Hospice of Dynamics Home Care; or donor's choice. Mr. Swarts was born April 28, 1923, in Cisco, the son of Francis E. Swarts and Louie Cook. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 3rd Army division under General Patton. He was seriously wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a carpenter and enjoyed all kinds of woodworking. He enjoyed camping and loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Craig Reed Legion Post 1181. He married Sally Edwards on July 15, 1943, in Chicago. Surviving are his wife; son, Michael (Kim) Swarts of Cisco; grandsons, Andrew Swarts of Mansfield; Timothy (Waynenette) Swarts of Tullahoma, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Swarts of Decatur; Timmy, Sarah and Leah Swarts, all of Tullahoma; stepgrandchildren, Donna (Ryan) Roe and Dylan and Jacob Roe, all of Weldon; Matt and Paul Clark, both of DeLand; sister, Thelma Tuggle of Monticello; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Tricia Swarts. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harley and David; and sister, Mildred.
