Iona Davis Obituary

MONTICELLO - Iona Mae Davis, 93 of Monticello passed away at 3:45 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Fair Havens Christian Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, June 15, 2010 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Witaker officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 14, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Iona was born August 30, 1916 in Mill Shoals, Illinois the daughter of Marion Francis Nancy (Atteberry) Behymer. She married A. Lee Davis on June 10, 1933 in Mill Shoals, Illinois. He passed away in 1977. Surviving are her sons; Jerry (Donna) Davis of Monticello, IL, Ronnie (Joan) Davis of Monticello, IL, Steve (Linda) Davis of Aiken, S.C., and John (Wendy) Davis of Rantoul, Illinois, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother Clyde Behymer and 1 sister Alberta Copeland. Iona was a homemaker. She was member of Monticello United Methodist Church, 60 year member of Piatt County Home Extension, Kirby Hospital Auxiliary, and Past President of the Piatt County Promenade's. Iona taught Sunday school for 22 years and enjoyed sewing and being a seamstress. She was a phenomenal speller, and she finished high school in three years. She was known for the best homemade rolls. Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church or Fair Havens Christian Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mackey-wrightfuneralhome.com.
