John M. Emmert

ARGENTA - John M. Emmert, 85, of Argenta, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in his home.
John was born April 4, 1939, in Mendon, IL, the son of R. Lowell and Lola (Deitrich) Emmert. He married Sandra L. Schafer on August 25, 1963. John proudly served his country in the US Air Force and graduated from Iowa State University. He retired from Illinois Power Company where he was an electrical engineer, and he was a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons: Jason (Laurel) Emmert and Matthew Emmert; grandchildren: Abigail (Brandon) Colmark, Nathan Emmert, and Jared Emmert; sister, Barbara (Junior) Homan; and several nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Robert, Richard, and James Emmert.
Services to celebrate John's life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3778 N. Water St. Decatur, with Pastor Jennifer Hartwig-Brown presiding. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Graymount Cemetery in Coatsburg, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
