John Kretsinger Obituary

John Richard Kretsinger, 76, of Decatur, Illinois passed away April 27, 2025.
He was born on August 20, 1948, in Decatur, Illinois, to Clifford Ernest, Jr. "Bud" and Dorothy Jean "Dot" (Krajefska) Kretsinger.
John married Leta Ann Campbell on August 25, 1967. They were married for 57 years.
John was happiest when with his wife and loved the life they built together.
John is survived by his wife, Leta Ann (Campbell) Kretsinger, his daughter, Stephanie Ann (Anthony) Sepich, and his son, Jason Richard (Dana) Kretsinger.
He is also survived by his brother, Clifford "Butch" (Susan) Kretsinger, and sisters, Barbara Ann Francis (Hazel), Karen (Jerry) Black, Carol (Larry) White, and Linda (Jim) Gould and his dearest Aunt Joan Alcorn.
John is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jarod Sepich, Ashley (Clint) Tester, Carrisa (R.J) Kretsinger, Hannah Sepich, Abigail Sepich, Jeremiah Sepich, and Daphne Kretsinger. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Garrett Sepich and Maverick Tester.
John was a proud graduate of Lakeview High School. He was proud of his career, founding Kretsinger Construction. John loved to fish and be on a lake, as well as golfing and gardening. He enjoyed many fishing trips throughout the years with family and friends. John was tremendously funny, having a dry wit that made every conversation better. He was so very loved and will be missed dearly.
John spent his final years living with his wife, Leta, and their daughter, Stephanie and her family in Overland Park, Kansas. He enjoyed playing games, cards, walks, golf cart rides listening to 70's classic rock with Leta and of course relaxing in the shade with a glass of iced tea. John was surrounded by the love of family every moment until he entered God's Kingdom on Divine Mercy Sunday.
A memorial service hosted by Leta will be at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL, on Monday, July 7, 2025 at noon. With a visitation preceding at 11:00 a.m., and a light lunch after for those who are able to join.
Memorials may be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church.
