Josephine Stringer Obituary

ASSUMPTION - Josephine Louise Stringer, 82 passed away 2:07PM, Tuesday (March 21, 2006) in St. Mary's Hospital. Services will be in St. Mary's Catholic, Assumption Saturday March 25th with Fr. Don Wolford and Fr. Angel Sierra officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8PM, Friday in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials to St. Mary's Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary, American Lung Association or Arthritis Foundation. She married Jake Smock on Sept. 27, 1945 in Pana, Illinois he preceded her in March of 1947. She later married W. Leonard "Abe" Stringer in Assumption on December 12, 1948. He preceded in January 10, 2003. Josephine was born April 2, 1923, in Assumption, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Bouvet) DeBrun. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and was a Democrat Precinct Committee Chairperson. She was a loving mother to daughters Jeannie Francisco, Assumption; Linda Corzine, Louisville, KY; Son Thomas Leonard (Joan) Stringer of Assumption and daughter Dianne (Tracy) Waddington also of Assumption. She was special Grandma Jo to grandchildren: Bradley Joseph (Ann) Francisco of Wisconsin, Jennifer Francisco (Scott) Ballard of Houston, TX, Matthew (Lyndi) Corzine of Nashville, TN, Nathan Corzine of Louisville, KY, Amada Jo Corzine of Cincinnati, OH, Christopher Stringer of Minnesota, Joey Stringer of Madison, Wisconsin, Alex Stringer, Decatur, IL, Ben, Megan and Genny Rose Stringer all of Assumption, Mark Waddington of Carbondale and Emily Waddington of Champaign. Great-grandchildren Brady and Jake Francisco, Jackson and Grant Ballard and Eleanor Hewitt-Corzine. Sisters Onerine Miller, Assumption. Sister-in Laws Cordelia Ross and Helen DeBrun of Decatur and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, husbands Jake Smock and Abe Stringer and son-in-law Richard Francisco. Brothers Leon, Clarence "Buddy", Amile, Jerome, Eugene and Daniel DeBrun. Sisters Marie Duck, Viola and Katherine DeBrun, Hattie Wondrok and Elizabeth York. Obituary written by family members.
