Joy Main Obituary

WARRENSBURG - Joy Main, of Warrensburg died Monday June 7, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 12th at Warrensburg United Methodist Church with visitation one hour before. Burial will be in Illini Township Cemetery. A dinner and celebration of "Joy" will follow the burial at the church. Memorials may be made to Barclay Public Library P.O. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements. Joy was born in Effingham, IL. June 6, 1939, the daughter of Oscar Sr. and Vivian (Bock) Morgan who preceded her in death. She graduated from East Richland High School, Olney, IL., in 1957, and from Olney Community College in 1967. She married Paul J. Main Jan. 10, 1958 in Danville, IL. She worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1999. She was active with the Firestone Employees Credit Union, serving as president. Joy was a member of the Friends of the Barclay Library in Warrensburg; she was past president of that organization as well. She was also active with the Red Hats. She loved animals and helped to raise funds for various pet organizations. She is survived by her husband; two children, Mrs. Vivian (Sam II) Bandy, DeKalb, IL., and Mrs. SuzC (Bob) Lynch, Tarpon Springs, FL., Grandchildren, Sam (Bella) Bandy III, DeKalb, Paula Bandy. Atlanta, GA., Kirk Lynch, Tampa, FL., and Kaitlyn Lynch, Tarpon Springs, great grand child, Sam Bandy IV, DeKalb, brother, Oscar (Nancy) Morgan Jr., Eagle, Idaho, niece and nephew, Kayla and Adam Morgan, Eagle and many beloved friends. Joy and Paul hosted four foreign exchange students in their home: Steve Potucek, Sweden; Lukas Huesler, Switzerland; Brauno Vargic, Slovakia; Jan Steinkrueger, Germany. Joy loved travel. She and Paul visited each of their exchange students in their home countries. The family would like to thank the staffs of Cancer Care and DMH for their care, Dorothy Pugh for her help and long endearing, friendship, and Beth Hughes for eight years of invaluable advice and service.
