Patricia A. "Pat" Parr, 92, of Forsyth, formerly of Lovington, IL, passed away at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Services to celebrate Pat's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025, at Grace Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. Monday, until the service time at the church. Interment will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to Grace Methodist Church or Gentiva Hospice.
Pat was born on May 29, 1933, in Decatur, a daughter of William Righter and Esther May (Harnett) Snyder. Pat was proud of her faith and active with her faith. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church. She was a volunteer for Decatur Memorial Auxiliary and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Kiwanianne Club of Decatur, Illini Chapter #813 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Millikin University where she served on the Board of Directors, and American Red Cross where she volunteered at the Blood Bank for 40-plus years. Pat was a former instructor for the Decatur Memorial Hospital School of nursing, and worked at St. Mary's Hospital and was also a school nurse in Decatur Public Schools. Pat was a former Director of the Hardware State Bank in Lovington.
Pat married the love of her life, William E. "Bill" Parr on September 10, 1960, in Decatur, and they shared over 53 years together before Bill passed away on March 8, 2014.
Pat is survived by her children, William "Bill" H. Parr of Decatur and Dianne Y. Johnson and her husband Jay of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Jeanne Allen of Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren, Andy Parr of Splendora, TX, Tyler Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, and Tiffany Johnson of Cape Coral, FL: great-granddaughter, Leighton Parr; nieces and nephews, Frances Newsome of TX, Steven Allen of AR, Sharon Hunter of TX, Jean Wood and Ann Sanner of Sullivan, IL, and Sue Adkins of TX. Pat is also survived by a very special friend, Michele Montgomery.
Pat was greeted in Heaven by her parents; husband, Bill; and brothers, Bill and John.
The family would like to give special thanks for all the care and support provided to Pat over the years, especially all the doctors, nurses, health care workers, social workers, transition teams and hospitalists at Decatur Memorial Hospital, the Villas and ARC of Hickory Point. Special thanks to the Gentiva Hospice team.
