Paul Carnahan Obituary

Paul Roger Carnahan, aka Roger, 86, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in La Jolla, California. Born on February 5, 1939, in Decatur, Illinois, Roger lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years, traveling the world to places such as the Philippines, Japan, and Italy. His military career instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, hard work, and pride in his country.

In 1976, Roger and his family settled in Livermore, California, where they would spend the next 24 years. He began his second career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he worked for 23 years. Known for his reliability, skill, and great sense of humor, Roger was well-respected and liked by his colleagues.

Beyond his professional life, Roger had a deep love for golf, often spending his free time on the course, enjoying the challenge of the game and the company of friends. Most of all, he cherished his family. His beloved wife of 53 years, Norma, was his partner in every sense of the word. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Kara and Kristine, and a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Jacob and Emerich.

Roger will be remembered for his integrity, loyalty, and the love and laughter he shared with those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; his daughters, Kara and Kristine; his grandsons, Jacob and Emerich; his siblings Joe and Jean; and many extended family members and friends.

A private service will be held to honor Roger's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veterans' organization of your choice in his memory.
