Ronald Adams Obituary

Ronald Kenneth Adams, Jr. (Ronnie)

September 4, 1967 - June 23, 2025

With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we mourn the passing of our dear brother, Ronnie Adams (57) of North Fort Myers, Florida; formerly of Decatur and Macon, Illinois.

Ronnie, and his twin brother John, were born on September 4, 1967, to Ron and Ellen (Sheets) Adams, at Brokaw Hospital, Normal, Illinois.

At the age of 4 Ronnie was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes and was insulin dependent the rest of his life. In later years, this led to complications including Heart Disease and Advance Kidney Disease. He also suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ronnie died peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida on the morning of June 23, 2025.

In his younger days, Ronnie was a notorious pool shark, winning numerous local tournaments in both Decatur and Ft. Myers. He had a passion for art and a love of color, expressed through his meticulous and detailed drawings, and elegant, interior design. He had a great love of animals, especially cats.

Ronnie is survived by his twin brother, John (George Ferencz) Adams of Cleveland, SC; sisters Tina (Greg) Thaggard of North Fort Myers, FL; and Tami Adams of Bonita Springs, FL; nieces and nephews, Shannon (Ron) Jackson, Nate (Courtney) Sloan, Rob Ariel, Matt Sloan, Andrew Thaggard, Stephannie Sloan, Sara (Meg Berry) Thaggard; and six great nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; Ellen Louise (Sheets) and Ronald Kenneth Adams, Sr.

Ronnie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at South Macon Township Cemetery, Macon, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be made to Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes, a tax-exempt 501(c)3 that has been assisting patients and families with Type 1 Diabetes since 1970, opening doors by influencing policy, and furthering advanced treatments and access to care.

Ronnie was a wonderful friend from my youth who will always be remembered and treasured. His happiness and silliness as we played Atari, watched tennis, told ghost stories, hung out and laughed our heads off in the Ruby house and at the Fourth of July, and spent those first moments with a drivers license to go see Star Wars (Empire, I believe), and then coming back to Ruby to reenact the movie all around the yard.

My condolences to his family, especially his twin, John, our partner in play, and his sister Tina who was like my own big sister and who introduced me to her family.

May Ronnie be at peace chasing cats and having only joy, with no pain.

John and family
My heart goes out to you.
I know the loss of a brother is a hard one, especially when it is just too soon.
I´ll always remember Ronnie´s humor and quirky little laugh.
May you find peace, knowing that he is with your mom and dad and no longer suffers.
