MANSFIELD, IL - Shirley R. Hinton, 95, of Mansfield died Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28th, at Mansfield United Methodist Church, 200 E. Illinois St., Mansfield, with the Rev. Paula Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, rural Champaign. There will be no visitation per her wishes. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Mansfield, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hinton was born October 10, 1929, in Macon, a daughter of Blake and Zella Overmier Noland.

Growing up a daughter of farming parents, she prayed that she would marry a farmer, and God granted her request. She married Kenneth B. Hinton Feb. 20, 1949, in Central United Methodist Church, Decatur. He preceded her in death February 3, 2024.

Surviving are three children: David (Kitty) Hinton of Paxton, Susan (Joe) Hahn and Mike (Tammy) Hinton of Mahomet; five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Robert) Sears of Murfreesboro, TN, Jessica (John) Buffaloe of Nashville, TN, Ben Hinton of Champaign, Chase (Kat) Hinton of Seymour and Jenny (Brent) Hinton of El Segundo, CA; and four great-grandchildren: Joe (Danica) Sears of Conroe, TX, Wesley Bennett of Champaign, Savannah Bennett of Murfreesboro and Phoebe Buffaloe of Nashville.

She was preceded by three brothers: Wayne, Herbert and Lawrence Noland.

Mrs. Hinton grew up in rural Macon and graduated from Macon High School. She attended Millikin University, Decatur, where she majored in music.

She and her husband farmed in rural Ivesdale and then in rural Mansfield for many years, until their retirement, in 1995. Mrs. Hinton was a homemaker and worked at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City, for many years.

She was a member of Mansfield United Methodist Church, the Piatt County Home Extension and the Garden Club.
