Thomas Doxsie Obituary

1954-2025

"A Spectacular Life"

After living nothing less than a spectacular life, Thomas "Tom" Alan Doxsie passed away at age 71 on August 22, 2025. With a competitive spark and a sharp wit, Tom infused every part of his life with fun and curiosity-from the dinner table to the boardroom, the golf course to destinations across the globe.

Tom was clever and endlessly charming, able to put anyone at ease while keeping an edge of mischief. He loved games and competition-fishing, shooting hoops, golfing, and playing cards-always as much for the camaraderie as the scoreboard.

Earning his MBA from the University of Illinois, Tom enjoyed a distinguished career in the food ingredient industry, traveling to 48 countries. At home, his expertise became a source of fun: the dinner table often hosted food ingredient quizzes, with one M&M as the reward for a correct answer.

Tom's greatest win came in high school, when he met his future wife, Lori, in homeroom. They shared 55 remarkable years, building a beautiful family with daughters Christina (husband Erick Lee) and Elizabeth (husband Chris Brownson); enjoying many happy times with a close circle of friends; cherishing desert hikes and sunsets at their Arizona home; and embarking on many adventures with Tom's brother, John, and sister-in-law Julie, who have been with them through every season of life.

To his grandchildren-Mack, Matilda, and Mim-he was not "Grandpa," but "Spectacular," a title he chose and lived fully. Even as Parkinson's slowly stole his strength, when asked how he was feeling, his answer remained unwavering: "Spectacular."

Tom leaves behind a lively crew of family, friends, and fellow mischief-makers who were lucky to know him-and who will always wish there had been more time together. Join us to celebrate Tom Doxsie's spectacular life from 4:00-6:00 PM on October 10, 2025, at Bloomington Country Club in Bloomington, Illinois. In Tom's honor, memorials can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

I worked with Tom for many years. He always had a way to make one feel at ease and comfortable. His quick wit and love of mischief made for some great times at our sales meetings.

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences to all in the Doxsie family.

Tom was a great human being. He was my colleague, boss, mentor and most of all, my friend. We worked together at Tate and Lyle for several years back in the 90's. He was very knowledgeable, dynamic and driven; all while making one feel comfortable at work to create an environment to be at their best and successful in getting things done. I remember Tom would walk around the office sometimes without wearing his shoes, just socks. Not only did people get a kick out of it, but more importantly, it really did help people loosen up with confidence in being their unique selfs.

Tom and his family, awesome people. All of them. I look forward to seeing Tom in the afterlife.

I knew Tom as a young man when he was getting his teeth straightened at the offices of Dr. Winter, Williams and Staley! He was one of my favorite patients...always kind and courteous.
My late husband, Larry, also had the privilege of working with Tom for many
years.
May it help to know that friends are sharing the sorrow in your hearts.
