Adam Silverman Obituary

SILVERMAN, ADAM LEE, 26, passed away suddenly on July 31, 2006. Adam grew up in Hollywood with his loving family and graduated from Nova High School and the University of Florida. Adam's love for his family out-shined all else - he idolized his brothers David and Ricky and his sister Darah. He was fun-loving, witty, had a great sense of humor and above all was everyone's little man. He was caring and although he did not have a lot he would gladly give you everything he had. Adam loved to play tennis and listen to music. He rapped at his own Bar Mitzvah and we all treasure the memory. He was the best son, grandson and little brother a family could ask for. Adam was predeceased by his father Alan Silverman and leaves behind his mother Maris Gherman and his stepfather Warren Gherman, his siblings Darah (Joaquin) Zeledon, David (Amy) Silverman, and Ricky Silverman, and his grandmothers Frances King and Marion Gelfand, his paternal grandfather Sidney Gelfand and his step-siblings, Michael (Sarah) Gherman, Rees Gherman, and Pia (Peter) Gherman Gold. A part of our family has died and we already miss him very much. Services will be held at 2:30 today (August 2nd, 2006) at Menorah Gardens, 21100 W. Griffin Road, Southwest Ranches, FL 33332 (954-434-1531). In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Adam's memory to Florida Initiatives for Suicide Prevention, 1253 S. Manor Drive, Weston, FL 33326 (954-384-0344). To visit this Guest Book Online, go to www.herald.com/obituaries.

Adam, my man. You are missed. I got a tat on my right arm in remembrance of the good times, homey. "Life Goes On," we used to scream it out when we were having fun. You are not forgotten my brother. Wish you were here. Happy Hanukah to the Silverman Family, peace be with you.

Dear Cousin Maris,

Drew, Chloe and I got home from NYC yesterday and Mom (Anita) told me the tragic news. You were kind enough to invite me to Adam's Bar Mitzvah when I was new to Florida; you knew the best pre-schools and the best neighborhoods in Hollywood.. so I followed your advice and lived there and Drew went to pre-school there. We met for lunch and you listened to me rant and ramble as my life was going to radically change...and most of all we all celebrated at Shep and Bernita's at Passover...the last time we saw Adam. How terribly terribly sorry we are. Love Cousins,

FELICE & DREW & CHLOE

I'm a full-time stand-up comedian, and it wouldn't have been without Adam's help. He pushed me to get on stage for the first time, he helped me write jokes, he drove me to my first open mic nights, and he watched my sets. He also got me into musical parody by way of writing songs about our dorm mates. Adam holds a special place in my heart and many of our dorm mates, with whom he shared his sense of humor and kindness. My condolences to his family. I'm livin' the dream, Adam!

Dear Maris and Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Adam was a special person to me and everyone else who had the opportunity to know him. He was such a caring and thoughtful person, and his sense of humor was unmatched. He had the ability to slip things by you at the most appropriate times. I met Adam during the summer of 1997 at the University of Florida and we grew up together as a family. He was one of my closest friends and is missed very much. We had many great memories and there were countless things that I was able to learn from Adam. I am so thankful to have known him. God bless Adam and his Family. My prayers are with you.

Silverman Family,

I first met Adam at UF in 1997 when we were Freshman. We lived on the same dorm floor and quickly became good friends. I will always cherish the fond memories we had, from playing sports to going on two spring breaks together to studying and just hanging out. Adam always had a good spirit about him and a great sense of humor. When I look back at my years in college Adam fills some great memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Silverman Family-

Adam was like a brother to me, and his loss breaks my heart. My thoughts are with you, his family, and those close to you during these hard times. I remember Adam for his kindness, and his huge heart. He was very special to me, and he taught me many things during his short time on this earth. I loved Adam very much, and a part of me broke when I heard the news. I know he is now in a better place, and God would not have taken him if he was not needed else where. My deepest condolences go out to those who hurt as badly as I do. The Silverman Family, and Adam will be in my prayers.

Adam will always be remember as a fun loving, kind and good natured person. I fondly remember him from his early years as a baseball player on the teams I coached thru his high school days with my son. His unexpected departure from us is a tragic loss to his family, friends and those that he came in contact with.

In these moments of great pain over his loss, let’s all remember the happy days he did grace us with his wonderful smile and good nature.
