Alex Phinney Obituary

SAN ANGELO On Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, Alex Ace Phinney Jr. was received into the Heavenly Kingdom. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Tom Green County on the home place to Alex Ace and Lora (Moore) Phinney. Receiving him into heaven are his parents; sister Lily Averitt; and brother Charlie. Ace is survived by his wife, Billie (Clark) Phinney; sons and daughters-in-law Gregory and Pam and Gary and Patsy; grandsons Ken (Janet) and Matt (Jayna); granddaughters Lisa Phinney, JJ (Jeremy) Hartgrove and Kimberly (Bobby) Werner; great-grandsons Carson Hartgrove and William Ace Phinney; and great-granddaughters Dylan Hartgrove, Laura Phinney, Abby, Kadie and Lily Werner and Cameron and Harper Phinney. He is also survived by his sister, Clara Hamlin; sister-in-law Joy (Larry) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. His beloved and constant companion, JR, also remains with Billie. Ace farmed and ranched most of his life and loved the land. He will be remembered by family and friends as a man who loved his wife and family members and took pride in each and every one of them. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Jerry (Steloise) Elmore officiating. Service is under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the service are sons Gregory and Gary; grandsons Ken and Matt; and great-grandsons Carson and William Ace. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to Hospice of San Angelo. Special thanks go to Cheri Pinchback and Marilyn Floyd. Rest in peace PePaw, we will miss you and we will always remember how proud you were of all of us. Family and friends may sign an online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.

Dear Phinney family, We remember Mr.Ace as a very good neighbor, ever thoughtful of others. He always had his tractor drivers slow down when there was a chance of "dusting" Mom's and Dad's home that bordered his field. Rest in peace, Mr. Ace.
