Benjamin Diamond
January 15, 1941 - February 16, 2023
Plantation, Florida - BENJAMIN ALAN DIAMOND
1/15/41 to 2/16/23
Benjamin Alan Diamond passed away at his home in Plantation, Florida with loved ones by his side on February 16, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 15, 1941 the third child of William Diamond and Sarah Globman Diamond.
Ben was raised in the Oak Lane section of Philadelphia and enjoyed a near-idyllic childhood. After graduating from Olney High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years before being honorably discharged.
After dabbling in various career options, Benjamin landed in the Miami area ,in the 1970s and embarked on a career in insurance that culminated with owning his own agency with his business partner Ed Saffer. And he also became a regular at the Shark & Tarp.
Ben married Denise Diamond in the early 90s and settled in Plantation. After he was widowed in 2008 he moved to San Miguel de Allende, MX where he met M. Lee Bellavance in 2012 and married in 2014. They spent four years in San Miguel enjoying all kinds of events until ill health forced Benjamin's return to Florida in 2016. Even then he was able to follow football and horseracing as well as dine out and win football pools! Most of all he enjoyed his fur babies Fang, Lucy, Lola and Gwen. But after the new year, his health deteriorated and he died peacefully on Feb. 16.
He is survived by his wife Lee, his sister Janet Madway and numerous nieces and nephews in the Philly area, Mellissa Castelazo and Melinda Smith from Mexico and many friends and acquaintances in Florida including Tara Zdanowicz, Merly Wolfe, Darin Delia, Jack & Shelia Siegel and aides Sonia and Faye Robinson Briscoe who cared about Benjamin as well as caring for him. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law and his sister Dr. Robert and Felyce Wolfson, brother-in-law Hillard Madway and sister-in-law Marsha Lynn Bellavance.
