Bertha Pitt

1941 - 2025

Ms. Bertha I. Pitt, age 84 of Miami, Florida passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025 resting comfortably with her loving children by her side. Bertha Pitt graduated from the University of Miami, and began a long and distinguished career in education. Bertha's educational career took her from the halls of North Miami Junior High School to the principal's chair at South Dade Adult Center. During her career she mentored many individuals who became superintendents, principals and assistant principals. Bertha's biggest joy came from helping those less fortunate than herself. One of her greatest career joys was helping single moms, who had limited hope learn construction skills during Miami's building boom of the 90's.

Bertha Pitt was born on July 7, 1941 in Santiago, Cuba to the late William Pitt and Bertha Wasmer Pitt. Bertha is survived by her brother William, two sisters Nora and Christy, and her 4 loving children Dianne(Tom) Halfaker, Susan(Derek) Bostick, John(Deana) Leyva, and Robert(Monica) Leyva, her 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Deeply loved; Bertha will be forever missed by all.

A Memorial Mass will be held November 7th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
