Caryl Shapiro Koven Obituary

Caryl Shapiro Koven
June 3, 1926 - November 15, 2022
Bay Harbor Islands, Florida - CARYL SHAPIRO KOVEN
Passed away peacefully at her home at 96, surrounded by her family; that which mattered to her most. She was Wife to the love of her life, Benjamin Z"L; Mom to Peggy (Michael) Silver, Eve (Leo) Wiznitzer and Brett Koven; Grandma to Lisa (Daniel) Shats, Alexander & Mitchel Wiznitzer, Eric (Brittany) Silver and Laura Koven, Ryan (Irene) Koven; GG to Gabriel & Zoe Shats, Alex & Evita Wiznitzer, Jacob & Max Silver; Aunt to a small army of nieces and nephews. Caryl was the "Matriarch" of her family, not just as figurehead, but by her actions as advocate, advisor, judge, counselor all with intellectual honesty. As if that wasn't enough; from bridge to backgammon, golf to gambling, tennis to Tennyson, her life was full. Her quest for knowledge and information was unlimited, reading 3 newspapers a day, countless medical newsletters, and frankly any and all printed matter. The family asks that donations be made in Caryl's memory to the Miami Jewish Health Systems.
