Christopher Hocker Obituary

HOCKER, CHRISTOPHER JOSEPH. May 16, 1980 to November 2, 2007 Chris went to be with our Lord after injures he sustained in a tragic auto accident on his way to work at Sundowners in Key Largo, on Tuesday morning Oct. 30, 2007. He is survived by his wife LaChell Ann; his children Angelo Joseph (9), Alexis Renee (5), Emily Paige (2), and Aaron Joseph (1 wk.): his mother and father Mary and Joseph Hocker, his brothers Jeffrey and Joe; grandmother Helen Hocker; grandfather Bill Vargo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Chris worked as a bartender, but he loved to cook and worked as a chef at several restaurants in Miami and the Upper Keys. He loved to go fishing with his father in the Everglades or South Biscayne Bay, with the same canoe they've had since he was 3 years old. He loved to spend time with his mother going to concerts, Orlando attractions & also they enjoyed lunches and dinners at nice restaurants together. Other things he enjoyed were playing golf with his brother, playing Texas Hold 'em, cooking for family holidays and special occasions, and just hanging out with his friends. But most of all he loved spending time with his wife and children doing things like planting gardens and growing flowers or just playing games, watching movies, and spending time together. He was a member of South Dade Baptist Church, and taught computer classes and coached the girls' basketball team last year for Colonial Christian School. Chris was loved by so many people and we take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord watching over us. Chris was able to donate many of his organs, and we are able to take some solstice in knowing that the death of our loved one may have brought joy to other families. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send contributions for his children to "The Hocker Family Fund" at the 1st National Bank of South Florida. Funeral Services will be held at South Dade Baptist Church, 17105 S.W. 296 St. Homestead, FL. Viewing hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, and the Funeral Service will start at 11:00 A.M. Friday, Nov. 9 at the church, followed by burial at Palms Woodlawn Cemetery, 27100 Old Dixie Highway. To visit this Guest Book Online, go to www.MiamiHerald.com/obituaries.

Mary, Joe and family...Thinking of you at this time and how much you all are missing Chris. Take comfort in his joy that he is resting and experiencing a new world unlike anything known to us and he looks down in love and is helping you through this life of toil. You will all be with him soon enough and rejoice.

Dear LaChell and Hocker Family,

My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this very difficult time. I pray that you will have peace and understanding that the Lord has taken Chris to be with him. Chris may be gone from sight but he is never far in spirit. He will be the star that twinkles at night for your children, and the angel that watches over all of you! I pray that God continues to give you comfort.

Love,

Cary Tyre-Solomon

Dear Lachell,
I’m praying for you, the girls and baby Aaron every single day, non-stop. You have three beautiful gifts from Chris to cherish and take care of. You have been so strong through this, by seeing your strength I know God is answering my prayers for you and the children.
God is standing right next to you through it all. I promise.

~Surely God is my help;
The Lord is the one who sustains me. ~ Psalm 54:4
I am only a phone call away if you need ANYTHING. I will see you tomorrow.
God Bless You,
We Love you,
Justin, Scotty, Scott, and Paula Babun

His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away-his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets-this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched...for nothing is ever lost-and he was loved so much.

Our Deepest and sincere sympathy in your sorrow. We love you all.

To the Hocker family: Mary, when Dr. Ojea called me about your terrible loss, it took me back to my son's death. I KNOw EXACTLY how you feel. Allow your friends and family to do things for you and allow yourself time to be alone. It blesses my heart to know that Chris is a child of God and thus not dead but ALIVE and well. Remember psalm 139:16. He will give you strength to go through this awful time. Call any time you want. With sincere sympathy Rebecca Leyva
