Christopher Plummer Obituary

PLUMMER, CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL, of Kendale Lakes and Raleigh, N.C., died Thursday, May 5, in an Apache helicopter accident during a military training mission. He was 31. He is much loved and will be sorely missed. While the family is devastated and heartbroken, they are celebrating his extraordinary life. A highly respected military leader, Chris proudly served as an aviation officer and platoon leader with the 1-30 Attack Helicopter Battalion in the North Carolina National Guard. He graduated among the top of his class from the U.S. Army Aviation Center in Ft. Rucker, Al., where he was awarded the Willie A. Ruf Leadership Award. While he set lofty goals and continued to meet them, he was able to maintain an air of humility, humor and light-heartedness. Chris could always be counted on to bring a smile to anyone's face in the form of a joke or a pun, and he had a contagious and unforgettable laugh. He was known among his four sisters for his unexpected checking-in phone calls. A graduate of Sunset High School, Miami-Dade Community College, and the University of Florida, Chris was a life long lover of learning who was planning to attend law school. Full of wisdom well beyond his 31 years, he aspired to become a leader in U S legal policy development for emerging democracies around the world. Chris is survived by his parents, Michael and Roxann Plummer; sisters Terri Plummer Sabbag (Tony Sabbag), Debbie Plummer Consuegra (Alex Consuegra), Lisa Plummer Silverboard (Josh Silverboard) and Jenny Plummer; nephews Stephen and Ryan Sabbag; niece Sabina Consuegra; and grandmother Dorothea DiFlauro. The wake service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church Thursday, May 12, at 7:00 PM, and the funeral will be held Saturday, May 14, at 1:00 PM, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The Plummer family will be establishing a memorial fund in Chris's honor. They ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the fund. Please e-mail [email protected] for details. Dear Mom and Dad,

Thanks to God and to you, we know, without a doubt, that our brother, Chris, has made it into eternity and is in utter peace with Jesus. You prepared him for life everlasting by raising him to love God and all people during his short time on earth. We can only hope and pray to be able to parent our children with the integrity and love you raised us with and continue to share. It is in loving each other that we will survive Chris's loss, and in our closeness to him that he continues to live in each of us. Thank you for teaching us to turn towards each other and towards God in our joys as well as in our sorrows.

With more love than you can imagine,

Your Daughters

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Plummer and family,

It was such an honor for my children and me to meet with you on Memorial day. While my children, Trevor, Katie, and Hannah (as well as all of Rick's family & friends) will miss their father, please know that we are in prayer for you and your loss. I found even more comfort within your comfort that you expressed from God and may it always carry you through. We are all saddened and distraught over your great loss. Although we never met Chris, having met you, he is immortalized as a great man. We will continue and never stop our prayers for God's peace, comfort, and presence in your lives. May God bless and comfort you always.

I worked with Chris when he was at Nortel. We became friends and we all went on a few ski trips together. Chris and I learned to snowboard together at Snowshoe in 2001. I will always remember his sense of humor and how driven he was. My prayers are with you and your family.

To the Plummer Family:

Please accept our most sincere sympathies in the loss of your son and brother, Chris. I did not have the chance to actually meet Chris, but I worked with his sister, Lisa, at the International Association of Fire Chiefs for nearly 2 years- and I feel I knew him through her. She loved him very, very much, and was so proud of him.

We are a military family, too, and we are proud of Chris as well. He clearly served with honor and dignity, and his loss is a loss to our entire nation.

May God bless you all.

Dear plummer family,

I met Chris as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. We both later served in 20th group, and the 478th Civil affairs together. He was my battle buddy at both units. I learned a lot of important lessons from Chris while growing up and will miss him sorely. He was really a good friend, the kind you don't find often.
