Dave took care of my car and my childrens' cars when I moved to Florida in 1970, until he sold the Dave's Automotive building in Hialeah. I will miss Dave as well as Rita.

I am so saddened to hear about David's passing and wish to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family. David was instrumental in my teenage years and decision to go in the military. I worked at the garage as a teenager, pumping gas while learning to be a mechanic. Some days I commuted with David to help shuttle cars back and forth. During those long commutes he would share stories with me about his time in the military, visiting China, and what it took to run a business. I learned that the gruff exterior hid a warm and generous person with many life lessons to share. Some years later I enlisted in the US Navy, in large part due to my conversations with David.
Every once in a while when I pass my big tool chest sitting in my garage I think back to my times at the shop, with David and Ken yelling at me to do things right, and smile at the memories. I am forever grateful that David took a chance on a skinny teenage kid and taught me about life, cars, and being a mensch.
