Dr Minervini was the reason I was able to do PD Dialysis. He pushed me like a father or uncle and said that I could do it. He did my beginning procedures.I had a kidney transplant on 9/14/08 and I am off dialysis but I will never forget Dr Minervini for his skills, his support, and what a sharp dresser he was. It was a pleasure and an honor to of known him .

I was away in San Francisco when I heard of Don's passing. It seemed that nearly every day, I would wait for my next case in the doctor's lounge with Don. I spoke to him nearly every week day for the past several years. He was the nicest warmest individual and I will miss him greatly.

Dear Sharon, Peter and Steven,
It has been a long time since I last saw you, but always remember the good times we had together living next door to you guys. I am terribly sadden by the news about Dr. Minervini and have prayed for you to find the strength to help you cope with this loss. I know what you are going through, Bobby died in December of 2006 and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. May God Bless and give you comfort in the days to come.

I am heart broken to know that Dr. Minervini is not with us any longer. It was much too soon. Dr. Minervini was a great/brillant doctor who made you feel comfortable despite of your fears. He answered my questions and at the same time educated me on certain aspect of the anatomy in question. He was full of life, joyous, very patient and he really cared about his patients. I am glad that I met him and that he was apart of my care at Mount Sinai. Thanks to Dr. Minervini my surgery was successful and I'm healthier than before. I will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We lost a great man, an awesome surgeon.

I remember Don Taking us out to the shooting range when we were 18 years old and taught me how to shoot a gun for the first time. I remember Don taking us boating on several Sundays. I remember Don getting ready for long weekends to take his Brittany Spaniels hunting for quail. I remember delicious homemade italian dinners (linguini with white clam sauce) that Sharon cooked frequently. My memories of Donald Minervini are of a man who was energetic, fun, loving to Steven and Peter and always hugging and laughing with Sharon. I am sorry for your loss and his ear to ear smile will be missed.

To Dr. Minervini's family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Minervini. I have known him since the St. Francis Hospital days. He was always very professional, well liked by the nurses, and wonderful with his patients. We nurses will miss him terribly.

Carol Lang

May 17, 2008

Dear Sharon & family,
There's a saying that goes, "If you want to know who the good doctors are, ask the nurses who THEY go to." So many of Dr. Minervini's patients were nurses. He was truly "one of the good guys" as physicians go.
I will never forget last St. Patrick's Day when we all pulled off a surprise birthday party for Bill Yahr. Don & Sharon were the ones who managed to get Bill to the restaurant without having a clue! What a wonderful evening that was.
I initally started working with Dr. Minervini in the ICU at the former St. Francis Hospital. We were both young professionals. From the first day we "bonded". I was the ICU nurse & he was the new surgeon. So many years & so many memories.
Kindly accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of one of the finest physicians I ever worked with. He was a true gentleman & will be greatly missed.

Drs. Jane and David Cohen

David and I had the pleasure of working with Don for 13 years. Besides his obvious professional demeanor and skill, it was always nice to see him and he always had a kind word and a concern about us. He was one of a kind and Mount Sinai will never be the same without him. We will miss seeing him on a daily basis greatly!

To Sharon and Family: So many years have passed since our days at Mt. Sinai. Dr. Minervini was a kind, gentle, caring physician and surgeon. Never a cross word with the nursing staff; only supportive efforts. Sharon, I remember our brief time that we worked together; with fondness. Wishing you peace on his passing. Marshall Berkson sends his best to you, as well.

Dear Sharon and Family. We have no doubt Don is in heaven. We know he was a comforting, kind, respectful, and loving Doctor; for he performed with God's given talent on so many people restoring them to health.
To know what kind of a father he was, we only have to look at our son-in-law, our son, Peter, to know he was the greatest. We couldn't have a better one than Peter. We feel blessed for all the love Don bestowed on our daughter Alesia.
One only had to see you and Don together to know that he loved you deeply Sharon with all his heart.
May Don rest in God's Eternal Peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Minervini Family, I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Minervini's passing. I worked with Dr. Minervini since 1998 and he was always a pleasure to be around. He treated his patients with respect and also the staff at Mount Sinai. I enjoyed listening to his stories, he was a wealth of information. Just the other day he showed us pictures of his puppies like a proud father. He was a likeable person! Also, Mrs. Minervini...thanks so much for sharing cookies with the staff at MSMC every holiday season. Again, I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Dear Sharon,
I was truly shocked and saddened to learn of Don's untimely passing. It is unfortunate that most people never learn how much we regard them until they are gone. Don and I had a long relationship at Mt Sinai going back to 1974, and we shared many good times, laughs and serious work included. He was a gem of a man, as well as an excellent doctor and surgeon. I will truly miss seeing him, and can only extend to you and your family my heartfelt sympathy.
