Edward Ellis Zyne

1951 - 2018

Zyne, Edward (Eddie) Ellis passed away suddenly on November 2, 2018 in Miami, Florida. He was born February 6, 1951 in Miami, the second of three children of Ellis and Alice Zyne. Raised in Miami, he enrolled in the seminary as a teen but soon discovered his love of music and his talent for playing the drums. He graduated from Coral Gables Sr. High. Eddie moved to New York City to start a band. Instead, in 1974 he auditioned for and won a place as drummer in a fairly new band: Hall and Oates. Over the years he played with some of the best: Todd Rundgren, the Monkees reunion tour, and Foghat. In recent years Eddie drummed for fan-favorite south Florida bands: Slow Ride, Dreaming in Stereo, and the Livesays. He often told fans that he had been very fortunate, but he credited being prepared and the support of his wife for making his musical life possible. Eddie is survived by his loving wife Susan; his mother Alice Zyne of Coconut Grove; his sisters: Evelyn Vaughn (Tom) of Savannah and Lisa Kirk (Bill) of Cutler Bay; his sister-in-law Linda Sankpill of Cutler Bay; his nieces and nephews: Lissette Lima (Giovanni), Allison Stephanuik (Scott), George Albarran, William Kirk, Thomas Kirk; and his great niece and nephew: Isabella and Julian Lima. In addition he leaves his Aunt Louise Ganem and many loving cousins in Florida and Georgia.
