Ferde Peltz Obituary

PELTZ, FERDE, 76, of North Miami Beach, FL passed away on May 3, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Francine, son Barry, daughter, Joy Spill, son-in-law Nicholas, and brother-in-law Jay Boxer. Born April 27, 1932 in the Bronx, N.Y., son of Dorothy and Barnett Peltz, he was a devoted husband, father, step grandfather to Toby and Tristan and step great grandfather to Owen and Logan. Ferde's family moved to Miami in 1948 and he attended Miami Beach and Miami High Schools and University of Miami where he received his BS in accounting. He proudly served in the National Guard. Ferde was an accountant in private practice for more than 40 years and active member of the community in North Miami Beach. During his lifetime he participated in the Toast Masters, Optimists, Kiwanis, various professional groups for accountants and Beth Torah Synagogue, where in the mid 1970s he served as President of its Men's Club. He was also a Mason of the 32nd degree and until a few years ago was Treasurer of the Golden Glades lodge. He was a proud supporter of U Miami and recently inducted into its Old Timers alumni group. Ferde believed in Tikkun Olam (repair of the world) and supported many charitable endeavors. He enthusiastically encouraged his children in whatever venture or project they sought to undertake. He always had a cheerful disposition and never complained so that whoever met him remarked that he was very nice. For many of his clients who relied on him for over 40 years he was a part of their extended family. The family gratefully thanks the many cardiology specialists and fabulous skilled and compassionate nurses in the Surgical Cardio Care Unit at University of Miami Hospital for all that they did in recent days. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Ferde to Jewish Community Services of South Florida, 735 NE 125th Street, North Miami, Florida 33161 or call (305) 899-1587(Marlene Waldfogel). My wife and I are so sorry to hear about Ferde's death. We just found out about him yesterday. He was a wonderful man and always cheerful. He prepared our taxes for over 40 years and was a good friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

As a long distance friend I would like to wish Francine, and her children long life.Although we have never met, Ferde and I were great friends by correspondence from the age of 15. We shared all the big moments in our lives, such as the births of our children. I lost touch when we emigrated to New Zealand in 1961, but due to the computer and Google were able to resume our distant correspondence, after 60 years. I shall
miss Ferde very much and his sense of humour, and our discussions of the Jewish kitchen and table.
Affectionately
Sally Rendall Alexander and family in New Zealand.

To The Peltz Family, My wife and I were saddened to hear today that Ferde lost his couragious battle with his illness. Our hearts and thoughts are with your family. Ferde has been preparing our taxes for over 20-years and became a good friend. He was such a nice man. He had a great sense of humor. We exchanged many e-mail jokes. He will be missed. He is in a wonderful place.
