John Peltz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home & Crematory on Dec. 19, 2025.
John H. Peltz Jr., age 96, of Glenolden passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late Mae and John Peltz Sr. He graduated from Bartram High School and attended King's College. John proudly went on to serve his country in the US Air Force in the Korean War era. During his service, he was stationed in Okinawa as an aircraft electrician working on the F-86 Sabre jets. He went on to teach aircraft electrical systems at both Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas and Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois.
John retired from Elf Atochem, formerly Pennwalt Corporation, where he worked as a senior manager in Research and Development. His work resulted in at least two patents. For one of these, he worked closely with Disney imagineers on the design and materials used to create the leaves on the Tree of Life in Disney's Animal Kingdom.
John was a man of deep faith, proclaiming his salvation through Jesus alone to many people. He served on the leadership boards of Glencroft Baptist Church and Colwyn Baptist Church. He was a beloved Sunday School teacher to many in these congregations. He also served as a youth director and was active with the church softball league, both as a pitcher and a coach.
John served as a Glenolden Schoolboard Member from 1967-1969. For his vacations, he loved going to Ocean City, NJ; he enjoyed fishing and being out on the water both in his own boat and in later years, his son Mark's boat.
Survivors: Beloved husband of Doris L. Peltz, to whom he was married almost 73 years; loving father of Dave (Sherry) Peltz, Mark (Kim) Peltz and Mary Beth (Dave) Frank; cherished Poppy of Brian (Theresa), Lauren, Kaleigh, Rachel, Hannah, Makayla, and Sarah and great-grandchildren Oliver, Paisley, Rory and Blakely; dear brother in-law of Evelyn (Ed) Ballinger and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 11am Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Aldan Union Church, 7 E. Providence Rd. Aldan, PA 19018
Visitation: 10-11am at the church
A private family burial will take place at Washington Crossing Veterans Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Aldan Union Church, 7 E. Providence Rd. Aldan, PA 19018 or Glenolden American Legion Post 566, 35 S. Glen Ave Glenolden, PA. 19036 would be appreciated.
