William Ebinger Sr, 83, of Collingdale, PA passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at his daughter's home surrounded by love and his family.

Mr Ebinger was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1942 and was a lifetime resident of Collingdale. He was a Collingdale High School graduate and went on to join the United States Army where he proudly served in Staten Island, NY as an MP (Military Police). He went on to marry his wife of 49 years, the late Carol J. Ebinger.

Before retirement, Mr Ebinger worked for Warner and Chester Materials as a concrete truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Local 312. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Mr Ebinger was a life member of Collingdale Fire Company for over 60 years where he served as a Volunteer Firefighter and Fire Chief. He was a 32 degr F & AM; Springfield -Hanby Lodge, and a member of Lansdowne Lodge #711 F & AM, A member of PA State Fire Chiefs Association, Keystone Fire Chiefs Association, the German American Police Association, German American Fire Fighters board of directors and the Bayerischer Volksverein.

Mr Ebinger was very proud of his German heritage, having visited Germany 7 times. Since 1985, he was also a United States host and sponsor of the Blasorchester TV Jahn Bockum Band from Krefeld, Germany when they came to the United States to play in the Steuben Day Parade in Philadelphia. He made life long friendships with several members of the band.

He was an avid gardener, planting and caring for his vegetable gardens all summer long. It was a rare occasion when you could leave his house without a bag of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, lettuce or peppers. He loved taking day trips to Lancaster. He also loved fishing and tent camping in his earlier years. He loved a good joke or prank and he was a proud Veteran.

Mr Ebinger was the son of the late George A. Ebinger Sr and the late Elmira Epright Ebinger. He was also pre deceased by his siblings Florence Moore, George Ebinger Jr and Agnes Cain. He is survived by his children, Laura J Hanly, (Joe), and William F Ebinger Jr (Bernadette), his grandchildren Lauren M Hanly, Joseph M Hanly, Jr and James P Hanly and his great granddaughter Kayla A Hanly and his nieces and nephew. He will also be missed by his four legged companion "Cat" (Sweeney), who kept him company and entertained.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday evening, February 24th from 6 to 8pm or Wednesday, February 25th, 9 to 10am followed by his Funeral Service at 10am at McCausland-Garrity-Marchesani Funeral Home, 343 South Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA. Burial will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA.
