Thomas Savage Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 11, 2026.
The Savage/Snider family announces the passing of Thomas L. Savage III on

February 3, 2026 after a lengthy illness. Born on June 13, 1945, Thomas is the son

of Thomas L. Savage, Jr. and Thelma Bennett Savage. He is predeceased by his

parents and his sister, JoAnn Savage Martin. Born in Chester, PA, he was raised in

Glenolden, PA, attended Interboro High School in Prospect Park, PA and earned

his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Widener University in 1970.

For the last 40 years, Thomas resided in Springfield, PA.

He is survived by his wife Frances Deeney Savage, two sons, Thomas L. Savage IV

(Heidi) and Brendan P. Savage (Tara), and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Snider

(Royce), and one brother, William G. Savage, Sr.

He is also survived by six grandchildren: Madison Snider, Jessie Snider, Taylor

Savage, Morgan Savage, Mackenzie Savage, Ethan Savage and beloved nieces,

nephews and friends.

Thomas was employed by Sun Oil Company from 1963 until 2001, retiring as a

Senior Financial Analyst. He then served for 9 years as Executive Director of the

Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services Institute in Harrisburg, PA, before

retiring in 2009.

Thomas exemplified a lifetime of service and leadership in Delaware County and

the state of Pennsylvania. As a Life Member of Glenolden Fire Company and Life

Member of the Delaware County Firemen's Association, he served throughout the

years on the Board of Directors, or as President, Vice President, Treasurer, or

Financial Secretary of both these organizations.

Actively involved in the creation of Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services

Institute, he worked with fire service officials to establish better communication

of the issues of fire service protection in Pennsylvania to the state's elected

officials. After retirement from Sun Company, Thomas served as Executive

Director of the Institute for 9 years.

Early in his life, Thomas worshipped and served in numerous leadership roles at

First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden. In later life, he actively worshipped and

served at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Although Thomas was honored with numerous awards for his service and

leadership, he was most proud of the accomplishments of his children and

grandchildren, and how each of them demonstrates God's love in the world.

A Service of Resurrection will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Springfield,

PA at a later date to be announced.
