Floyd Wells Obituary

WELLS Floyd E. Wells, age 65, passed away on Tuesday July 12, 2016 at UW Madison Hospital surrounded by his family. Floyd was born May 26, 1951 to Robert E. and Kathryn H. (Cox) Wells in Beloit. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1969, where he lettered in both football and baseball and received all state honors on the gridiron. After graduating, Floyd enjoyed all the social aspects of living in Beloit until he moved to Florida in 1982 to escape the cold winters. He established the Gold Coast Battery Company, which he owned and operated for nearly 35 years. Floyd was then welcomed to the American Battery Company where he recently retired. He was a long time resident of Davie, Florida and recently moved back to Beloit, Wisconsin. Floyd loved NASCAR and enjoyed hitting the golf ball around the course, playing pool and engaging in a game of cards. He'll be remembered for his stories, which frequently began with "Did ya hear the news boys?", passion for baking and devotion to his family and friends. Floyd is survived by his mother, Kathryn Wells; his brother, Roger (Cheryl) Wells; his three nieces and one nephew, Susan Wagner, Lanny (Aubrey) Wells, Lori (Eli) Stokes and Nikki (Jim) Burrell; 14 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. Floyd leaves behind many friends and his extended Florida family. He was preceded in death by his father. The family would like to thank the staff at UW Madison Oncology Dept. for the care they gave Floyd. Floyd's Funeral Service will be Noon on Monday July 18, 2016 in BRIAN G. Having known Floyd for 25 years, I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great guy, who always had good cheer, and not a bad thing to say about anyone. He treated all of his customers like they were the only one, and always saw that we were taken care of. He always had time form a little chit chat- it's times like these that we need to remember to take the time now with our friends. His family should know that he was beloved by many in south Florida. our deepest condolences to his family.
