I trained with Fran for several years, got 5 ratings with her, and later taught her students, flying and ground school. She took me under her wing, if you will. I flew 10 years, accrued 2000 hours, and quit cold. I realized in Florida, going north was the only real direction available, though I did miss the students. But those 10 years meant a lot, and mostly because I got to know a veteran of aviation. Fran was a pro, could be very complimentary, and also very cross with you; say if you were cruising in the downwind leg, or coming into final too hot. Safety was always number one to Fran, and staying ahead of the airplane. I miss her.

My condolences to the family of this wonderful woman. Mrs. Sargent was one of my professors, a role model, and the advisor of our flight team at (then) Miami-Dade Community College in the early 1970s. We kept in touch, and she always had a kind word and would inquire about any of my former classmates. I regret not visiting her in the last few years. Would that we all had daughters, or even sons, half as accompished and influential as Fran. We miss you, but you done good.

We were neighbors of Fran for many years and shared her love of aviation. We never tired of her wonderful stories. She was a wonderful mentor to so many young people. She was admired and was an inspiration to all. It was a privilege to have known her. Rest in peace dear Fran.

What an incredible and humble woman. I remember the first words she ever spoke to me ... at a 99s meeting while standing shyly in the back of the room as a brand-new student pilot, the opportunity came for introductions. I meekly gave my name, announced that I was a student pilot with 15 hours in my log book ... to which this amazing woman said "that's wonderful, at one time each one of us only had 15 hours in our log books too." This was Fran ... she made EVERYONE important ... and heaven has a new angel. God speed, Fran and may He always hold you close. I will NEVER forget you.

Donna, I just learned of your mom's passing last evening celebrating another WASP's 90th birthday, here in DeBary.Kay Hilbrandt knew your mom along with a couple of ladies there who were also pilots. Your mom was one of the most courageous, interesting & fun ladies one could ever meet. She made quite an impression on my son, Anthony. It was an HONOR to work for her & make her feel comfortable & happy in her E.R.villa. My sincere sympathy to you & your family. Regina Huni (Personal Packers, Inc.)

An amazing woman, someone I wish I would have known better. I learn more and more about her through stories from my dad, which completely blow me away. I know she will be missed tremendously but her awesome accomplishments will forever be etched in history. Her great grand sons will know how priceless she was...

I wish that I had the chance to meet such a wonderful lady. She now is flying high in heaven with her wings on. I have the privilege to being best friends since childhood with her grand daughter, Kassy, and I know that she would be proud of the amazing woman, wife, mother and friend she has become.

Ms Sargent was one of my instructors at Miami Dade college. At that time I did not know her WW II history and wondered why she was a flight teacher. Years later I saw an article featuring her and realized how privileged I was to have such an honorable woman as an instructor. May God bless her as she enters her next adventure in the sky.

I will always remember Fran's ready smile, willingness to have fun, love of aviation and how she said the word - aviation. I feel lucky to have been one of her many students. Thank you Fran.
